The Mission

The mission of Touching Miami with Love's youth program is to mentor youth with Christ-like love to transform their lives, and empower young leaders to transform their community.

Philosophy

TML believes that youth will be the key agents in transforming the future of Overtown.

Far too many Overtown youth within strained family systems are drawn into a culture of despair with low expectations and high-risk behaviors like promiscuity and substance abuse.

Youth between the 6th and 12th grades are making critical lifestyle choices that will shape not only their individual futures but also the future of our community.

Our Programs

Touching Miami with Love's Youth Programs serve at-risk youth in grades 6-12. TML provides a variety of opportunities to our youth in our Overtown community. We do this through two programs.

Today's Leaders

Today's Leader Youth Program meets Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Middle and high school students participate in life skills classes, entrepreneurial projects, creative arts, character education, computer class, tutoring, and recreation which are all a part of a broader subtance abuse prevention program.

Youth Program

Our youth program provides community service opportunities, field trips and special events for youth in the Overtown community.

Junior Intern Program

During the summer months, TML provides a Junior Internship Program for youth ages 12-18 in the Overtown community.  The summer months when youth are out of school are a critical time to engage middle and high school students in positive, enriching activities.  The youth earn job-training experience through assisting in the daily activities of the children’s summer camp.  The 6-week Junior Intern Program is designed to teach youth responsibility, teamwork, leadership, character, service, communication, and social skills.

Youth attend an orientation and training during the week prior to camp and serve all 6 weeks of our ToMorrow's Leader Summer Camp program.  At the conclusion of their summer of service in the Junior Intern Program, youth go on a reward trip to a theme park in Florida.  The expenses for the reward trip include lodging, theme park tickets, food, and transportation and donations are accepted to help defray the cost of this trip.   This opportunity for youth to travel to a theme park in Florida gives them the opportunity to have new experiences and discover new places.

Interested in Volunteering?

During our weekly programs, volunteers can assist youth in life skills classes, entrepreneurial projects, creative arts, character education, computer class, tutoring, and recreation. Our youth need adults who are willing to come once a week to spend time with them and invest in their lives. Volunteers are also welcome to help out as chaperones during field trips and special events.

All you need is a heart for youth and willingness to serve! Our youth would love to get to know you.
