Planning a mission trip to TML.
What you will be doing
Your group will have a full-range of experiences in inner-city ministry. You will be involved significantly in ministries. Let us briefly outline the events in these ministries:
Your Ministry to the Homeless will involve you in a Sunday morning time of service and worship at either the Downtown Mission. Later in the week your group will have a chance to again engage the homeless population by offering them a movie night.
Your Ministry to Children will take the form of offering a summer camp experience for either the children of Overtown. Then, on Friday we will all join together to offer these kids a field trip to one of the local attractions in the Greater Miami area
In addition, your group will participate in a work project aimed at bettering a small slice of the community in which we work, this afternoon may be considered Your Ministry to the Overtown Community, an act aimed not at individuals but at helping transform the community as a whole.
Pre-Trip Orientation
All first-time groups are required to attend a pre-trip orientation visit scheduled in the Spring. We require this as many past groups have suggested this was the most meaningful time for them to make plans appropriate for their group's experience. The pre-trip visit includes a tour of all mission sites, review of mission site policies, tour of group accommodations, suggestions for free-time activities, and participation in the downtown mission at Christ Fellowship - Downtown Campus . This is also a time when group leaders can ask any questions specific to their group and generally get a feel for Summer mission experience.
Insurance Needs
Each Mission Team is responsible for insuring their own group through Adams and Associates or another insurance provider.
